DETAILS

> All fire protection systems were designed in accordance with NFPA Codes, guidelines and standards with hydraulically calculated wet pipe sprinkler systems with the exception of server room #311A. This server room is protected with a double interlock preaction system and a clean agent system utilizing FM200

> The single cell cooling tower system for the building is located at ground level providing 100% of the design load 

> Separate air handling units serve the vivarium and lab spaces with separate exhaust systems in compliance with laboratory industry standards 

> A nitrogen gas system was designed for the laboratories, supplied by a duplex cylinder system with quarter-turn type outlets in installed

> Carbon dioxide can be supplied to incubators and lab units as required throughout the building from a single storage room located on the first floor

> Liquid nitrogen is piped from a Dewar system and only servicing the upper level BSL-3 lab spaces 

> Laboratory vacuum air is provided to all lab areas as programmed, with the vacuum terminating at lab outlets or equipment connections as required 

> The laboratory design guidelines were developed in accordance with OSHA, ASHRAE, ACGIH and NFPA standards with additional information provided by the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals from the US Department of Health and Human Services 

> Engineering and IT equipment is located on the penthouse level of the building and serviced by separate HVAC and sprinkler systems 

> All mechanical systems are controlled and monitored through a Siemens DDC based Building Automation System (BAS) with distributed processing a local level ​​> The BAS system monitors temperature, humidity, supply and exhaust air quantities throughout the building and lab spaces

​> The building has an emergency power supply (EPS) consisting of two diesel generators to allow for reduced operation of the vivarium, ABSL2 and BSL3 labs along with minimal building operations throughout
